Bryelle Kerrigan Burgus is a playwright, director, designer, and producer. Bitten by the “theatre bug” over 20 years ago, she has gone on to be involved in all aspects of production, completely in love with world-building and addicted to the magical qualities theatrical experiences bring to its creators, participants, and audience. From traditional proscenium theatre to immersive experiences, she approaches each project with a joyous collaborative spirit and a never-ending curiosity revolving around journeys of self-discovery, subverting expectations, and the power of community.
She has helmed over forty productions as a director and designer and provides unique interdisciplinary leadership. She led the award winning high school theatre program of Walter Panas High School as Artistic Director for seven years and was, most recently, the Head Electrician & Programmer Off-Broadway at Life & Trust (Emursive Productions - producer of Sleep No More).
As a playwright and creator, her touching and, at times, humorous original works explore women’s history, themes of mental health, and centralize LGBTQ+ stories in the narrative. From the hardships of mortal existence to the chaotic joy of humanity, her experiences invite people to look introspectively - with the goal of making the world more connective one human at a time.
She is a graduate of SUNY Purchase College (Bachelor’s in Liberal Studies: Arts, double minor in Playwriting and Arts Management) and holds an MFA (Theatre) from Sarah Lawrence College.
